Credit card processing is sure to be needed more, as the economy has been reportedly improving, however slowly and surely, and is expected to make a major leap at the end of 2010.
This has great implications for the average ecommerce merchant account or merchant account reseller as a greater influx of money in the country means a greater willingness to spend it online.
According to a Reuters article concerning the slow recovery of the economy, Stuart Hoffman, the senior vice president and chief economist for The PNC Financial Services Group, said in a press conference “We’re on the cusp of private industry job creation, which will gain momentum throughout the year.”
Of course, with more jobs means not only more industry but more spending and thus a better working economy. Like grease on the chain of a bicycle, money helps the economy run smoother. It creates a cycle: jobs mean more money, more money means more jobs, and so on and so forth. This has great implications for ecommerce and the expected rise in the amount of credit card processing that is soon to occur.
Though ecommerce and the Internet were not expected to be hit too hard by the economic collapse, it still took a toll. That Ecommerce Journal article pointed out that “if the market on the Internet grows more than 50% a year then the collapse of the world economy will slow the economy down but won’t kill it.”
In reality, of course, everything was affected by the collapse, including ecommerce. With the steadily rising economic conditions in the United States, the amount of shoppers on ecommerce will rise as well.
Granted, when it comes to ecommerce, the United States is the only country spending money on the Internet. The need for credit card processing spans the world, and other countries are showing economic recovery of their own. According to the Wall Street Journal, German economic efforts will strengthen in 2010 and the economic recovery in Japan, while slowing down a tad, is expected to continue.
With the world’s economy improving, the rise of ecommerce is inevitable and thus the need for safe and reliable credit card processing becomes ever more vital to the running of a trustworthy ecommerce business. As we’ve mentioned before, it is important to stay safe while using an ecommerce payment gateway, so make sure you are working with a reliable company that can stand by your company when the rush of credit card processing begins.
And remember, as a consumer, it is important to be engaged in the online community as a shopper, as a merchant account reseller, as someone who will help this economic recovery. It’s a beautiful thing–finally being on the road to recovery–so let’s help it along all we can!
